In honor of Vox's launch tomorrow, what's your favorite feature or aspect of Vox?
The lack of a blogroll or any capacity to have a list of links on your home page - oh wait - that's my least favourite aspect of Vox.
I mean seriously, this is 2006, do you honestly believe that people have no interests outside this site (well, no, because you let them stick flickr pics, youtube videos and links to Amazon up) so why is this so difficult?
As for the good things, I like the look of it and the ease of use.
How many computers do you have in your house?
Submitted by Foomper.
Weelllll, it kind of depends on how you define a computer, doesn't it?
There's the standard PC, my housemate's laptop but then there's the Xbox and PS2, even the PSP conceivably does things you could do on a computer.
So, somewhere between 2 and 5.
What TV show(s) will you be watching this season? Why?
Submitted by ducnly.vox.com.
Broadcast tv has gotten a bit boring of late - so much prefer to watch shows on dvd if possible. (So pretty well the HBO classics such as Sopranos, Deadwood, Curb Your Enthusiasm and others including West Wing)
I should confess at this point though that my ex - evil, evil woman that she is :) - has gotten me hooked on Neighbours. Which I'll generally catch most nights. (But I still enjoy mocking the show at every opportunity)
Well that was just the most kick arse and a half week down in Melbourne town - back to the less-than grind of actual work after cruising around alley bars, Fed square, the pork roll shops of Victoria St and four days of screenwriting class fun in Docklands. Not to mention the best and easily most low key wedding I've ever been to.
Life is good. (and if I could find the cable that runs from my phone to the computer, I could take a proper look at my drunken photos from the wedding reception - which I think involved a lot of people playing pool and me trying to pick up a girl that I discovered hours later has a boyfriend - eh, all fun and games anyway)
What's your favorite foreign accent?
Well, I can't say I've heard them all - but every time I've heard a (youngish) Polish woman speaking it's been like someone pouring cool water over my brain. (Don't mind an Irish accent either)
Well, 220 minutes of video to edit in 2 days - didn't quite happen. (Didn't actually come near to happening)
I'm actually pretty ok with it all though, to be honest. Really enjoyed working on Episode 1 all day Saturday, fixing up sketches that had been not quite finished for the last 12 years and generally just tightening things up.
Then I spent today playing around with individual clips, seeing how they work best (or at least reasonably well) in Google Video, YouTube, Stage6 (DivX) and on the PSP - again, kind of satisfying.
I had been hoping to surprise my Brown Couch friends at the wedding this coming Saturday with full dvd copies of the whole series but this can wait til Christmas now. Glad I didn't tell anyone.
Anyways, here's one of my fave clips so far - our take on the Nick Cave (Boys next door - era) song Shivers.

Update - Oh come onnnnnnnnn Vox - no html tags at all? - that's pissy. That and the lack of a blogroll and forum are really starting to make me wonder about this site.
Fine, whatever, I'll try it your way for now.
Hmmm, actually, the Vox way sucks arse. My video file is taking far too long to upload so I figured I'd just use their YouTube tab - but what does that do - lets you search YouTube for videos by tags - and what do you know, my video didn't even come up. (Not even when I search by it's URL)
Here's the URL if you've read this far anyway - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-uQkgWJjDnU
cheers then
What do you collect?
CDs and DVDs mainly - and I guess ex-girlfriends. (Not in any kind of weird, creepy, psycho way - I just seem to have stayed friends with most of them in recent years - which is kind of cool)
So I'm sitting here posting instead of flailing away madly at the nearly 4 hours of video footage I need to edit and put onto DVD by Monday - why is that exactly?
Am I :
A) Lazy
B) Scared
C) Addicted to blogging
D) Supremely overconfident.
(I'd say a little bit of A and a little bit of B)
Back in the mid 90's, some friends and I had a show on Channel 31 in Melbourne called Brown Couch. It was a pretty hodgepodge kind of effort - a sketch comedy programme of sorts that was based around a different theme each week. So rather than using regular characters with mindless annoying catchphrases, everything was fresh and new each week. I've been capturing all this stuff over the last few weeks from the VHS and Super VHS master tapes so I can put a directors cut together on DVD.
And then I kind of just stopped. Put in a little time working through a How-to-use-Premiere-Pro book so I'd be able to whip through this when I got to it but I think mainly I'm just a little daunted by the work that needs to be done.
So why the rush now - well one of the Couch people is getting married in Melbourne next week, so I've swung a trip down there starting Tuesday and it would be really nice to be able to give a full copy of Brown Couch to everyone who was involved.
Well, I guess I'd better hop to it then. (but I haven't checked my bloglines subscriptions for at least 10 minutes - and it's getting kind of close to lunch - and...)
Neh, I'll do it.
Once this is done, the plan is to get it up onto YouTube or some similar service and build a nice new website and blah blah blah. But first things first.
